About me

I am an artist and educator (and long-time cricket enthusiast).

In my lifetime, I have been fortunate to travel and live in many exciting countries and cultures, which can be explored on this website through my work.

Medium and process

My creative work is underpinned by observational drawing and mark-making, usually pen and ink, developing ideas through experimenting.

Once satisfied, I translate my thoughts using my preferred medium, watercolour. I use other mediums as part of my creative process as and when the mood takes me.

I have exhibited and collaborated with galleries such as the Open Eye Gallery in Edinburgh, The Scottish Lighthouse Museum, Frames Gallery Perth and The Communication School Gallery in Hong Kong.

Teaching and Education

My visual work is complemented by a rich teaching experience of over 40 years. During this time, I have been privileged to teach illustration and visual communication at esteemed higher education institutes worldwide, such as Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Yale University.

My current work and expertise focus on developing Visual Communication curriculum within higher education in East Asia.
